Custodial Helper 1

About the role

This position provides assistance to students, teachers, custodians, and administrators. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, removing garbage, filling dispensers, assisting with security, and performing other maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assists with routine maintenance of school and district buildings
• Cleans offices, classrooms, and hallways
• Removes garbage
• Fills soap, paper towel, toilet paper and other dispensers
• May remove graffiti and repair other acts of vandalism
• Affixes locks and unlocks doors as needed
• Performs outside maintenance
• Cleans up garbage, repairs furniture, lockers, doors, and small equipment
• Involved with security of building after hours
• Turns on/off security and locks/unlocks the building
• Ensures building is inspected at least 80% of the time

Requirements

• Minimum age requirement is 14
• High school diploma or GED preferred if over 18
• Must pass a background check if over 18 years old
• No prior experience is required

Qualifications

• Needs to know how to operate and maintain basic cleaning equipment
• Must understand basic use of age appropriate cleaning solvents and their proper application

Skills

• Physical presence and punctuality are essential functions of this position
• Ability to follow directions and make suggestions
