About the Role

This position is responsible for the construction, configuration, and maintenance of Degree Audit, Degree Planner, and Curriculum rules and systems. The role involves analyzing and evaluating complex CSU/CSULB curriculum and policies, including General Education, to ensure they are accurately reflected in campus-wide tools, spanning from a student's admission to graduation. This includes developing and applying curriculum rules within university tools, testing and validation of results, documenting, troubleshooting, and resolving issues to ensure accuracy and reliability. The position also evaluates and applies upgrades and fixes related to campus functionality, and provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life using a student-centered and equity-minded approach.

Responsibilities

  • Degree Audit and Planner Building: Design, configure, and maintain degree audit systems and academic planning tools to ensure accurate tracking of student progress and alignment with curriculum requirements.
  • Curriculum Rule-Building: Develop, configure, and maintain curriculum rules and requirements within student information and degree audit systems to ensure accurate evaluation of academic progress and program completion.
  • Monitoring and Maintaining Accuracy: Regularly review, update, and validate academic program data, degree audits, and curriculum requirements to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with institutional policies.
  • Online System Testing: Plan, execute, and document system testing activities to validate functionality, identify issues, and ensure the accurate performance of online academic and student information systems.
  • Provide services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life.
  • Use a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Schedule

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week. This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Pay

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Rate: $4,799 (Step 1) per month.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,799 (Step 1) - $6,992 (Step 20) per month.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in an applicable field and two years of related experience.
  • Extensive experience in degree audit, degree planner, and curriculum management systems, with the ability to construct, configure, maintain, and continuously improve these tools.
  • Strong understanding of General Education requirements, majors, premajors, minors, certificates, credentials, transfer credit, and degree completion pathways.
  • Ability to analyze and translate complex academic policies into technical system configurations, develop testing scenarios, validate outcomes, and perform comprehensive system and regression testing.
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation, establish best practices and procedures, troubleshoot system issues, and provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Ability to remain current on evolving CSU and CSULB policies, transfer agreements, technologies, and university systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies.

  • Collaborative approach to support special projects and work closely with leadership to analyze proposed changes and implement innovative solutions.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).
