About the role
The RDN is responsible for implementing quality nutritional care across various healthcare settings including acute hospitals, long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, and home health services. The role involves consultations with physicians and healthcare professionals, nutrition screenings, assessments, and interventions.
Responsibilities
- Consults with physicians and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions for patients.
- Performs nutrition screening, assessments, and consults for acute inpatients, extended care residents, home health, hospice, and cancer center patients.
- Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical conditions of patients.
- Instructs patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
- Taught nutrition and diet therapy, presents workshops, participates in special events.
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years relevant experience.
- Required Licenses/Certifications: Registered Dietician (RD) Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers within 3 months of hire.
