Responsibilities

• Engage peers to deliver the best possible shopping experience, including an exceptional checkout experience.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals, maintain Meijer standards, and complete required trainings.
• Support training of new team members and cross‑train high‑potential talent, providing peer coaching on job responsibilities and standards.
• Collaborate with leadership on department schedule writing to boost team engagement, improve customer service, store sales, and profitability.
• Ensure product freshness by monitoring rotation and dating policies.
• Guide the team in compliance with food safety standards, regulations, and a 200% accountability safety mindset.
• Lead ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display activities where applicable.
• Foster a culture that values Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
• Operate a register and handle cash when needed.
• Operate powered equipment where applicable.
• Participate in period‑end inventories where applicable to help achieve goals.
• Act in a lead capacity in other departments throughout the store as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• Passion for customer service with a total engagement approach that conveys approachability to customers and teammates.
• Proactive in initiating interactions with customers and peers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Retail or other customer‑service experience preferred.
• Creative thinking skills.
• Ability to influence others.
• Quickly build rapport and gain customer confidence to encourage repeat business.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling product.
• Experience executing plans.
• Positive influence to create a strong team environment.
