Cultural Resources Coordinator, Central Office, Illinois State Archaeological Survey
About the role
The Illinois State Archaeological Survey (ISAS), Prairie Research Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is seeking a Cultural Resources Coordinator for the Statewide Survey based in Champaign, Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Serves as day-to-day point of contact between ISAS’s Statewide Survey and the Cultural Resources Unit at the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
- Aids in IDOT coordination with federal and state agencies and tribes on applicable transportation-related compliance issues.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or a closely related field, plus a minimum of five years of relevant field, analytical, and laboratory experience in a CRM and/or transportation archaeology context.
- Working knowledge of Eastern Woodlands prehistoric and historic archaeology.
- Basic familiarity with Federal and Illinois historic and burial laws.
- Administrative experience in personnel organization and management.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee projects to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and procedures.
- Experience in archaeological excavation, analysis, publication, and compliance in Midwestern archaeological sites.
- Basic familiarity with basic computer word processing, graphic, and database programs.
Qualifications
