Cultural Resource/Archaeological Technician - Salt Lake City, UT
The Opportunity
Tetra Tech's Salt Lake City office is seeking seasonal Cultural Resource/Archaeological Technicians to join our high-performing team. The position involves working with field survey leads on teams of varying sizes, depending on the project. Project travel ranges from eight-day on/six-day off sessions to shorter time periods and day trips, depending on project location and scale. Overnight travel includes per diem based on current GSA rates for the area and single occupancy hotel.

Essential Job Functions
- Follow company and project-specific health and safety compliance during field work.
- Collaborate with the crew lead to conduct field work including pedestrian inventory and construction monitoring.
- Complete pedestrian survey transects during varying weather conditions and assist in documenting cultural resources and evaluative testing as assigned by the field lead.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology/Anthropology.
- Entry-level or greater experience.
- No required licenses/certifications.
- Candidate must have attended an archaeological field school.
- A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Field school that focused on North American archaeology.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS ArcMap, Survey123, and/or related GPS-based systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel (approx. 75-100% of travel required).
- Pedestrian survey over uneven terrain during varying weather conditions for at least 10-hour days.
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 35 lbs. for prolonged periods of time.
- Office work will consist of frequent periods of time sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer and other office equipment.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors
- Traverse over uneven terrain during varying weather conditions for at least 10-hour days, for consecutive days up to 10 days at a time.
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 35 lbs. for prolonged periods of time.
- Work will occur in outdoor rugged terrain and in varying weather conditions.
- Open / rugged terrain outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
Additional Information
Part-time temporary position, no scheduled hours. Hours will vary based on project/client needs.
