About the Role
The Culinary Supervisor will report to the venue Executive and/or Sous Chef and will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the venue kitchens at the University of California, Southern (LA Coliseum).
Responsibilities
- Communicates regularly with venue Chefs about kitchen staff activities, vendors, and visitors, including written reports as needed.
- Sets the pace and tone for the shift, motivating staff to work efficiently and achieve results.
- Prepares all menu food items in a timely manner and in accordance with company standards.
- Ensures completion of all opening and closing duties.
- Oversees replenishment and rotation of stock.
- Maintains high sanitation standards and ensures proper food storage.
- Adheres to company guidelines, house rules, and exceeds guest expectations.
- Encourages teamwork with fellow associates and other departments.
- Conducts daily meetings and facilitates communication.
- Monitors compliance with OSHA, health, and fire regulations for food preparation and kitchen spaces.
- Plans food production based on the expected number of guests using standardized recipes and food safety standards.
- Ensures quality and compliance on a daily basis.
- Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Investigates and resolves complaints regarding food quality, guest service, or facility cleanliness.
- Maintains workspace safety, sanitation, and efficiency.
- Leads by example, holding yourself to a high standard.
- Ensures all required logs are maintained daily, weekly, and/or monthly.
- Assesses staffing needs and communicates with venue Chefs to schedule accordingly.
- Monitors and ensures constant safety of team members, including proper use of PPE.
- Ensures all employees are dressed properly for their shift with clean uniforms and tidy appearances.
- Maintains personal health, sanitation standards, and good hygiene.
- Presents professionally at all times.
- Maintains extensive knowledge of the outlet’s menu and offerings.
- Assists venue Chefs with special projects as needed.
- Assists in recruiting and/or interviewing potential employees.
- Reviews procedures and operations to improve services, performance, and safety.
- Maintains superior attendance and punctuality.
- Attends mandatory meetings and training as needed.
- Follows company policies, procedures, best practices, and state/local laws.
- Reports all safety incidents into the company’s risk management system on the same day they are reported.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience working in a fast-paced, high-end club, or restaurant.
- Professional training through culinary education or experience in a fast-paced, high-volume fine dining restaurant/catering facility; full-service casual dining preferred.
- Ability to interact well with co-workers and evaluate guest satisfaction.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
- Professional, safe, and efficient work ethic.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
- Ability to read, speak, and write in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
- Open and flexible availability, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Mobility to perform tasks including constant reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
- Willingness to encourage and follow all safety policies and procedures, including reporting unsafe work conditions.
- Completion of company-wide safety training and any additional job-specific safety training.
Pay
Part-Time: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour.
