About the Role
Kettering Health Main Campus in Kettering is seeking a full-time, first-shift Culinary Associate II. This role performs basic food preparation and service tasks for retail areas, catering, ingredient room, and/or patient Room Service line, ensuring compliance with HACCP principles and applicable food codes.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic food preparation and service tasks for retail areas, catering, ingredient room, and/or patient Room Service line.
- Accurately manages position paperwork and processes, including order-taking and preparation, cash register operations, cash-ups, temperature monitoring forms, food temperatures on serving line, weighing and measuring ingredients, Room Service records, tray time paperwork, and catering event paperwork for charging.
- Follows correct hand hygiene procedures, including washing hands after handling money and before handling food, and using gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods.
- Utilizes appropriate scripting and responds to patients, internal, and external customers using the HEAL principle, describes products, knows ingredients and allergens, and promotes collaboration with team members.
- Effectively and safely uses position equipment and performs applicable cleaning and sanitation procedures (e.g., coffee brewers, espresso machine, display equipment, grill, fryer, scales).
- Correctly date-marks food items, monitors temperature control, and follows First In First Out (FIFO) food storage procedures using FDA guidelines.
- Prepares, assembles, serves, cooks, or bakes food and beverages according to guidelines and recipes.
- Accurately handles cash and manages sales transactions through MyMicros software, maintaining a variance of ± $2.00 or less at the end of the shift, and processes credit card and gift card transactions per guidelines.
Requirements
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Able to push and pull wheeled carts.
- Able to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to tolerate frequent temperature changes and work around equipment that generates heat, steam, and cold.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Food service or customer service experience.
