Employment Dates and Compensation
- Tentative training dates: June 24, 2026 & June 25, 2026
- Dates of Employment: June 28 – August 7, 2026
- Compensation: $17.25/hr.
- M-F, 8:00am – 3:30pm, one half-hour unpaid break per day; 37.5 hours weekly max
- Grades 6-8 TAs support virtual study sessions in the evenings Tuesday/Thursday 6:30pm – 8:00pm
- Grades 9-12 TAs support virtual study sessions Tuesday/Thursday from 7:15pm – 8:45pm
Qualifications
- Current or past enrollment in a college undergraduate or graduate degree program required.
- Previous experience working with children in a classroom or camp setting is a plus.
- CLI Teaching Assistant applicants: Demonstrated experience in service-learning and/or experiential education programs.
- Must be able to traverse distances of at least one mile with or without accommodation.
- Must be able to lift and/or maneuver at least 40 lbs.
General Responsibilities
- Learn, implement, and adhere to CTD and Northwestern policies, procedures, and staff conduct expectations as outlined in the staff handbook and by administrative staff.
- Maintain CTD’s standard of active supervision at all times according to grade level requirements.
- Communicate regularly with Instructor to review course goals, daily objectives, teaching strategies and methods, and expectations of the TA role.
- Aid Instructors with all instruction-related tasks, such as taking notes on student progress, leading small groups, etc.
- Prepare for specific lessons and daily duties by keeping up with course content, readings, etc.
- Substitute for Instructor, if necessary.
- Communicate with academic, residential, and administrative staff regarding student progress.
- Promptly document any academic or behavioral issues within 12 hours of any incident.
- Review student medical notes, i.e. allergies/other medical needs, and uphold confidentiality policies.
- Assume program-related responsibilities as requested by CTD administrative staff.
- Science TAs: Assist Instructor and/or Lab Prep Coordinator in the set up and clean-up of labs; implement safety plans according to university guidelines and regulations.
- Science TAs: participate in Northwestern University and outside laboratory (if applicable) safety training.
- Assume program-related responsibilities as reasonably requested by CTD directors and administrators.
