CTA - Care Team Associate - Medical ICU (MICU) - Nights

About the role

The CTA - Care Team Associate - Medical ICU (MICU) - Nights position requires no prior experience but must have a high school diploma or equivalent. The role involves performing routine tasks in patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Systmatically and continuously monitors the patient's health status and implements the plan of care.
• Carris out physician and nursing orders as directed by the RN within scope.
• Takes/records blood pressures, temperatures, pulse and weighs patients.
• Performs blood glucose monitoring.
• Sets up and discontinues telemetry monitor.
• Collects specimens as directed.
• Applies sterile dressings, removes sutures, staples and/or drains.
• Performs all sterile procedures as assigned.
• Performs stomal irrigation and applies colostomy pouches.
• Performs oral suctioning.
• Reports symptoms and significant changes in patient’s condition or behavior to RN.
• Aids in the admission, discharge and transfer process.
• Transports patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary; assists transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Keeps the patient’s room in clean and orderly condition; makes beds, replaces soiled linen.
• Assists in restocking rooms with supplies and equipment as directed.
• When assigned to one patient as a safety attendant, provides care, observes the patient and does not leave the patient alone.

Requirements

• Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Skills

• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to maintain effective working relations with others.
