Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - ICU - FT - Nights

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Assists patients in their routine activities of daily living, including but not limited to:
  • Performing range of motion.
  • Ambulating patient.
  • Positioning patient and providing skin care.
  • Distributing linen and changing bed as needed.
  • Assisting with feeding and meal delivery.
  • Assisting with routine hygiene care including toileting and incontinent care, as well as appropriate oral and personal hygiene.
• Assists patient care team in collection of patient data and specimens:
  • Obtaining urine, stool, and sputum specimens and processing specimens as needed.
  • Obtaining and recording health, weights, vital signs, including pulse oximetry and pain assessment and I&O.
  • Communicating patient status and reporting changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
• Assists patient care team by performing and explaining designated patient care procedures:
  • Performing incentive spirometry.
  • Transferring patient.
  • Preparing for diagnostic tests.
  • Assisting rehab therapists (PM & R).
  • Performing pulse oximetry/oxygen setup in oxygen therapy.
  • Prepping for diagnostic tests.
  • Removing IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
  • Performing EKGs (department specific responsibility).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• CNA license issued by the Commonwealth of VA required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• For CNAs working at Snowden at Fredericksburg: CPI is required within 90 days of hire.

Required Physical Requirements

• Constant (67-100% of workday) walking, standing, use of arms and hands;
• Frequent (34-66% of workday) bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting;
• Ability to lift 35 lbs.;
• Ability to push and pull 20 lbs.;
• Auditory and visual skills to include color determination;
• Ability to work in confined spaces;
• Ability to reach above/overhead.

Mental Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Capacity to cope with difficult situations.
• Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards

• Potential risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals.
• Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Clinical positions in Mary Washington Home Health and/or Hospice must also meet driving requirements.

Compensation

Pay Range: $18.07 - $23.49
