CT Technologist (part-time)

Location: Wilmington, Delaware • Part-time, 24 hours per week

About the role

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Part-Time CT Technologist to perform Computerized Tomography imaging studies while delivering quality healthcare in a comfortable, friendly environment. This position requires excellent communication skills for continuous interaction with patients, families, and medical personnel.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine CT imaging protocols and patient examinations as directed by radiologists.
• Prepare the imaging room and provide clear instructions to patients and families, explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Physically prepare patients for examinations, including positioning and comfort measures.
• Prepare, administer, and document contrast media under radiologist/physician supervision; monitor patients for allergic reactions post-administration.
• Screen patients for contraindications to imaging or contrast media; obtain written screening consent and assist radiologists in patient evaluation.
• Start IVs and inject contrast material for imaging studies.
• Determine appropriate radiation exposure factors to minimize patient dose according to radiologist protocols.
• Ensure proper function of equipment through correct usage and maintenance, including Siemens SOMATOM Dual Energy Flash, Siemens Edge with Biopsy functions, and post-processing workstations.
• Operate hospital computer systems for patient data entry, retrieval, order entry, and study completion.
• Provide age-appropriate care, considering chronological age, developmental stage, and social maturity.
• Maintain work habits consistent with hospital and department policies; report unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisors.
• Demonstrate safe work practices and contribute to departmental Quality Assessment and Improvement programs.
• Assist in training new personnel, students, and physicians.
• Regular attendance is required; this position is considered essential for staffing during severe weather emergencies and natural disasters.
• Work a flexible schedule, including on-call shifts; reliable transportation is required.

Requirements

• Specialized training (1 year beyond high school) required.
• Minimum of six months to one year of prior CT experience.
• State of Delaware Radiology Technologist License required within 90 days of employment.
• ARRT Radiographer and CT certification, or CT post-primary Board Certification, required within 18 months of employment.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work well in a team environment.
