CT Technologist - Days

$10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants. This posting is for a CT Tech I; Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for a CT Tech II role based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

About the role

Under general supervision of the Radiologist, performs CT procedures to acquire digital images for physician use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Plans and performs all CT procedures and post-processing using advanced technology based on clinical criteria, anatomy, and established protocols. Ensures protocols adhere to guidelines and CT scanner integration into a program that compiles dose data and notifies the user when scans exceed preset levels.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical expertise to operate CT scanners, power injectors, and computer systems to acquire images for radiologist use in diagnosing and treating pathologies.
• Maintains knowledge to operate different CT systems across multiple locations.
• Ensures protocols are based on Image Gently Guidelines and CT scanner integration into a dose-tracking program that alerts users when scans exceed preset dose levels.
• Maintains vast knowledge of clinical histories to match appropriate protocols, including major organ systems and vascular systems for Thoracic, Abdominal, Pelvic, Neuro, and Musculoskeletal imaging.
• Obtains CT images according to established protocols, ensuring proper patient preparation, positioning, immobilization, shielding (when applicable), and correct technical factors.
• Performs CT interventional procedures and CTA imaging, including Carotid, Head, Vertebral, Run-Offs, PE critical bolus timing, and advanced studies such as TAVR (Trans Catheter Aortic Valve Replacement), EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair), and Cardiac imaging.
• Maintains working knowledge of pharmacology to ensure lab results are obtained prior to scheduled exams.
• Applies knowledge of physiology to produce quality scans under non-ideal conditions.
• Uses knowledge of physics to lower patient dose on CT scanners and interprets technical factors to improve scan quality or speed.

Requirements

• Graduate from a Radiologic Technology Specialty Training Program (Required).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology (Preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience (Required).

Qualifications

• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) – Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• Certified CT Technician – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
