Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging of patients.
  • Assist physician customers in obtaining patient records.
  • Correctly identify records and images.
  • Help maintain equipment; report any equipment failures.
  • Correctly load and process film.
  • Keep abreast of new and approved methods of imaging through independent study and continuing education.
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must provide safe, efficient, and competent care to the assigned patient population and demonstrate competency in unit-specific functions described in the performance continuum, skill lists, and/or standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited educational program in radiologic technology, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine technology.
  • Knowledge of the imaging process, filing and reporting systems, current developments in imaging, hospital functions, and policies, procedures, and regulations related to imaging services.
  • For staff involved in the care of age-specific groups, knowledge of the bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients is essential. Special knowledge of growth and development needs of pediatric/geriatric patients is required where applicable.
  • Experience in sectional imaging and use of sectional imaging equipment is preferred.
  • ARRT (R) certification required; ARRT (CT) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of hire. Alternatively, Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification is acceptable with ARRT (CT) certification required within one (1) year.
  • State licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.
  • Current certification (or scheduled for certification/recertification training) in life support programs specific to the unit(s) worked (e.g., CPR, ACLS, NALS).

Schedule

Full-time, 80 hours per pay period with variable shifts.
