CT/Radiology Technologist (PRN) - All Shifts

About the role

Must be a graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program with a valid ARRT license and certification in CT by the ARRT (preferred). A valid MRT license by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) is required. The Radiologic Technologist functions within the legal scope of practice, adhering to federal, state, and local laws, as well as institutional policies. The role focuses on patient safety, accountability for quality care, and continued professional competence. The technologist assists physicians and registered nurses with basic patient care under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of patient-related issues.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, including explaining procedures while addressing language barriers.
• Provide care in a non-judgmental manner, respecting patient and personal beliefs.
• Work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining excellent patient care and customer service.
• Provide supportive care under the direction of the registered nurse or physician, including taking vital signs, initiating IVs, drawing blood, and documenting care.
• Perform radiographic duties:
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs as directed by physicians.
  • Position patients and adjust immobilization devices for optimal imaging.
  • Adjust exposure factors (time, distance) based on radiographic techniques and protocols.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques, including patient shielding and minimizing exposure.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, including contrast administration and IV placements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, patients, and families.
  • Complete skill check-offs and competency assessments for ER/Radiology tasks.
  • Facilitate departmental operations by completing forms related to exams (e.g., Contrast, Extravasation, Pregnancy).
  • Possess basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiology/CT equipment for diagnostic imaging and minor troubleshooting.
  • Report lab and radiology results promptly to nurses and physicians.
  • Assist with assessments, examinations, treatments, and procedures (e.g., crutch walking, dressing changes, splint/cast application).
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including preparing rooms between patients.
• Perform laboratory duties:
  • Conduct patient testing and reporting as assigned by the Laboratory Director.
  • Follow laboratory procedures, including specimen collection, labeling, and preparation.
  • Run controls, calibrate instruments, and perform maintenance as described in laboratory policies.
  • Maintain laboratory safety equipment and work surfaces.
  • Order supplies to ensure uninterrupted laboratory services.
  • Stay informed about new testing methods, technologies, and compliance requirements.
• Adhere to safety and infection control regulations, including OSHA, fire safety, and hazardous materials policies.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and continuous quality improvement (CQI).
• Perform administrative duties as needed (e.g., front office registration, filing, data entry).

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Associate’s degree in applied science or equivalent, with certification/diploma from an accredited Radiology Technologist program.
• At least two (2) years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital or emergency room setting.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with current certification.
• Current Texas license from the Texas Medical Board (TMB).
• Current CPR/BLS Certification.
• Ability to work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Windows, Microsoft Office, EMR systems).
• Pass a background check.
• Effective communication in English (verbal and written); additional languages preferred.
