About the role

The CT Technologist is responsible for producing images that generate cross-sectional imaging for diagnosing disease processes. Procedures can be performed at various health system locations. CT Technologists are expected to participate in ongoing training and education.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison for communication between other departments and assists with special projects approved by the Radiology Department leadership team.
  • Assists with developing continuing education strategies within the CT Department to enrich staff long-term.
  • Participates in providing teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students.
  • Ensures all staff operate equipment optimally and safely by adhering to policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Operates CT scanners and auxiliary devices within designated locations, ensuring radiation exposure is minimized for reasonable image quality as overseen by staff radiologists.
  • Maintains an organized flow of scheduled patients, coordinates examinations efficiently, and performs exams in a sequence that minimizes the patient's hospital stay.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of contrast reactions and responses, responding immediately to patient needs.
  • Completes mandatory educational assignments as provided by supervisors.
  • Performs routine CT procedures at a high standard, with increasing ability to conduct specialty studies with experience.
  • Sets equipment parameters, provides patient assessment and education, ensures accurate patient preparation, and administers venous access for safe contrast material delivery.
  • Supports the Mission and Vision of the hospital and the goal of reaching "World Class" status.
  • Performs the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school of Radiology Technology.

Qualifications

  • Computed Tomography (CT) certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 180 days.
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - State Board of Healing Arts for Kansas locations only within 90 days.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced computer skills related to RIS, PACS, and EMR.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience performing basic CT procedures.
  • 1 or more years of large facility experience.
  • Radiography (R) certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Radiography - ARRT required to apply for Computed Tomography (CT) - ARRT.
