CT Technologist PRN

About the Role

The CT Technologist works with leadership and radiologists to provide, enhance, and maintain high levels of radiation safety for producing high-quality images. This role ensures customer satisfaction across interdepartmental teams, the community, and patients/families while reporting to a designated department Supervisor, Manager, or Director.

Responsibilities

• Performs and assists with CT examinations and procedures under the direction of a Radiologist to produce diagnostic images for locating injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions, or lesions.
• Follows established policies, procedures, exam protocols, and regulations to promote patient safety and a safe work environment.
• Provides imaging services for inpatient, ED, and outpatient settings, including specialty procedures (e.g., abnormal anatomy, congenital cardiac disease).
• Collaborates with Sedation and Anesthesia departments to facilitate timely placement of add-on, STAT, or urgent examinations.
• Assists in the orientation and training of organizational staff, department personnel, new employees, and students on safety, patient preparations, job roles, and proper procedures.
• Evaluates CT images for radiation safety and technical quality, performing daily Radiation QA to adhere to ALARA guidelines.
• Seeks guidance from management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances requiring deviation from policies or protocols.
• Provides charge/lead CT Technologist coverage as trained and assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Registered Computerized Tomography RT (R)(CT) Technologist by the ARRT required.
• CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
• One year of radiology experience required.
• Proficient with CT principles, procedures, and operation/maintenance of CT scanners.

Skills

• Interpersonal skills for effective communication and teamwork with physicians, clinical personnel, multiple departments, and patients/families.
• Analytical skills to determine the best method for providing requested radiographs based on individual cases and technical principles, ensuring clear, undistorted images.

Working Conditions

Clinical patient care environment with minimal exposure to hazards such as excess noise, dust, or temperature extremes. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, body fluids, and other healthcare-related conditions.
