CST III

Qualifications

• Education: Current Surgical Technologist Certification or eligible upon hire or transfer to the department. Surgical Technologist I and II must obtain Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer to position.
• Surgical Technologists who were employed before September 1, 2009, may remain employed as surgical technologists without meeting the certification requirement.
• Training and Experience: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or transfer to department.
• Complete the following competencies within three (3) months of hire or transfer to department:
• Aseptic technique
• Gowning and gloving
• Surgical hand scrub
• Surgical case preparation
• Sterile case set-up
• Intraoperative actions
• Postoperative actions

Unusual Physical Demands And Working Conditions

• Ability to perform: Heavy lifting
• Sustained standing and walking
• Work under stress
• Varying work hours and shifts
• Comply with Call Schedule
• May encounter exposure to infectious diseases.
