About the role

Transform Healthcare RN opportunity for PRN (Flex), Evening/Night shift position on Cardiovascular Surgical Services, 6 CST.

Responsibilities

• Consistently deliver the best in care and customer service
• Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Collaborate with the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care
• Treatments and medications for patients of all ages are accurately administered and documented
• Identify and incorporate patient/family educational needs into the plan of care
• Contribute to Carilion Clinic's performance improvement activities
• Demonstrate the role of patient advocate, protector of patient's rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support
• Apply knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served
• Plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve patient outcomes
• Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify environment to meet patient care needs
• Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame and according to pre-established guidelines
• Solve problems related to patient and personnel situations
• Provide feedback to staff
• Assist with providing education activities for unit/department

Requirements

• Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam
• Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure
• AHA BLS-HCP required
• May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit
• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC)
• Inpatient cardiology experience at the PCU or ICU level preferred
