About the role
The CS/Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and surgical readiness by meticulously decontaminating and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of aseptic techniques and basic microbiology, along with adherence to health and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Meticulously inspect and assemble surgical instruments, equipment, trays, and packs according to prescribed protocols
- Efficiently rotate through decontamination, sterilization, and assembly assignments
- Aid in recordkeeping, monitor equipment, manage inventory, report issues, dispense supplies, and prioritize safety
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures
Requirements
- Graduation from the HSPA and one (1) year of related work experience demonstrating attainment of requisite job knowledge skills/abilities
- Current certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) at hire or within six (6) months of date of hire; OR current certification as a Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing
Preferred
- One (1) year of related work experience demonstrating attainment of requisite job knowledge skills/abilities, preferably in an operating room, acute care hospital or central services department
