Crusher Plant Operator
About the role
This is a skilled position controlling production and load out of materials produced in plants. The plant operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of plant equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Reads work schedules and determines sequence of operations.
- Operates plant according to production schedule using appropriate materials.
- Maintain material operation to ensure quality of mix.
- Performs basic maintenance and service on plant as required.
- Ability to weld using an arc welder or cutting torch is preferred.
- Cleans control house and yard facility daily.
- Enters production information into computer systems.
- Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
- May be subject to drug testing, medical exams and physical agility testing.
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Keep time and material records.
- Knows aggregate sizes and classifications.
- Knows weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write correspondences and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Knowledge of inventory and order processing systems; uses job specific computer system for ticketing and two way radio for communications.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, climbing, and use of hands to signal and handle equipment.
- Occasional standing, walking, crawling, kneeling, bending, and reaching with hands and arms above their shoulders.
- Periodic lifting and/or moving up to 50-75 lbs.
Work Environment
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Moving mechanical parts.
- Outside weather conditions.
- Extreme cold and/or heat.
- Moderate to loud noise levels.
- Occasional exposure to dust and fumes.
