Crude Oil Accountant
About the role
The role is part of the Crude Oil Accounting group within Plains, an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider. Key responsibilities include analysis of operational financial data, account reconciliation, preparation of journal entries, and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and self-review of journal entries
- Analysis of operational financial data to ensure accurate accounting
- Compilation, review, and tie-out of account reconciliation packages
- Monthly inventory accounting
- Performance of special projects as needed
- Evaluation and implementation of process improvements
- Various other analyses and reporting for management support
- Support for financial reporting, tax, and internal/external audits
Requirements
- Proficient with MS Office products, including advanced Excel skills
- Experience with implementation of AI and other automation tools
- Establishing effective working relationships that promote teamwork and collaboration
- Analytical skills to understand and convey complex information
- Adapting to and managing change in a dynamic environment
- Self-directed, motivated, and results-driven approach to work
- Problem-solving ability to work with various departments and external parties
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Prioritizing and balancing multiple projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 1 - 3 years of accounting experience
- Midstream oil and gas experience a plus
- Oracle experience a plus
Skills
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
- Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing
