Crossway Student Worship Center

Crossway Church in Vicksburg, MS required a new space for their growing youth program “the City.” The new Student Worship Center provides an active place for youth to gather. The shape of the building is defined by the dynamic interlocking of two major interior spaces – one space for ritual and the other for community. Together, these volumes shape a building with simple formal integrity. Colored glass is used at distinct openings, letting in powerful ever-changing light. From the outside, the openings reveal the inner activity and elevate the building to have a lively posture. Within a limited budget, the project achieves the church’s desire for an inviting, multi-purpose building for worship, study, and events.
