About the Role

Villa Heights Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a full-time Pastor of Student Ministries to shepherd and disciple the next generation of our church. We are looking for a man who meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry, loves God’s Word, has a heart for students and families, and is passionate about making disciples.

About Villa Heights Baptist Church

Villa Heights Baptist Church is a growing Southern Baptist church located in the thriving Bonsack community just outside Roanoke, Virginia. God has been gracious to our church as we continue to see growth across every generation, including a growing number of students coming to faith and following Christ in baptism. Our student ministry is established and active, with approximately 40 students gathering weekly, supported by a committed team of faithful volunteers and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide biblical teaching and shepherding for middle and high school students.
• Equip students to become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.
• Partner with parents as the primary disciplers of their children.
• Develop and lead volunteer leaders within the student ministry.
• Reach students in our community with the gospel.
• Work alongside the pastoral staff to advance the mission and vision of Villa Heights Baptist Church.

Preferred Qualifications

• Meet the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
• Affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Demonstrate a growing walk with Christ and a heart for the local church.
• Have a strong biblical teaching ability.
• Be a humble, servant-minded leader who works well with a team.
• Have a passion for discipling students and equipping families.

Transition Opportunity

To promote a healthy and successful ministry transition, the retiring Student Pastor plans to remain on staff during an intentional transition period. The length of this transition will be determined based on the needs and experience of the incoming pastor, providing opportunities to build relationships, learn the ministry, and become familiar with the church culture before assuming full leadership responsibilities.
