About the role
The Green River Police Department is accepting applications for Crossing Guards for the current and upcoming school years. This position reports to the Patrol Captain at the Green River Police Department.
Responsibilities
- Stop vehicular traffic on assigned street at assigned location to help children to safely cross to and from school.
- Give instructions to children.
- Communicate effectively with parents and school officials as necessary regarding safety issues.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Knowledge of: Procedures for safely assisting children across the street. Pertinent traffic laws.
- Skills: To perform assigned tasks properly and efficiently.
- Ability: To establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public. Provide own transportation to and from work site.
Education
- Mandatory: A high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Experience: One year of experience working with children and/or the public.
- Licenses/Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
Essential Duties & Physical Requirements
- Physical Skills: Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and grasp; lift up to 10 lbs.
- Work Environment: Exposure to heat, cold, and outdoors.
