Crossing Guard – Winslow Public Schools

Responsibilities

• Direct and control the movement of school children at an assigned intersection.
• Cooking the flow of traffic with the flow of the students and providing safe crossing of the roadways.
• Modeling appropriate behavior for the children.
• Choosing good times to stop traffic to create safe gaps for crossing.
• Standing in the street with a handheld STOP sign continuously displayed to show that pedestrians are in the crosswalk.
• Virtually directing children and families across the street.
• Recognizing and communicating potentially dangerous traffic situations and hazards in the environment.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fingerprint (CHRC) Certification.
• Strong situational awareness including traffic patterns and laws.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and community partners.
• Professional, cooperative, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others.

This position follows the school year calendar. 2 hrs. per day.
