Cross-Sectional Radiographer (MRI and CT)

About the role

The NHS Western Isles is starting a new MRI service in Autumn 2026, with a B7 MRI lead already in place. They are inviting applications for B6 Radiographer posts to help run the MRI service at Western Isles Hospital. Full time and part time posts will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Undertake a range of diagnostic imaging investigations including MRI, CT, X-ray and fluoroscopy
• Provide high-quality patient care in a remote and rural setting
• Work collaboratively with the Radiology department, NHS Borders Radiology department, and Consultants
• Support the development and maintenance of the MRI service
• Be available for on-call duties from home and potentially cover short periods of leave at Uist and Barra Hospital

Requirements

• Must hold DCR or BSc in Diagnostic Radiography
• Experience working in MRI, CT, X-ray, and fluoroscopy
• Postgraduate certificate in MRI or must commence study within the first 12 months of the post
• Good working experience in a wide range of diagnostic imaging investigations
• Understanding of the specific challenges of remote and rural healthcare delivery
• Proven NHS experience
• Hold HCPC registration

Qualifications

• Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography (DCR)
• Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Radiography
• Postgraduate certificate in MRI

Skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of Realistic Medicine and its impact on Radiology
