Cross Dock Material Handler Lead

About the role

This position reports to Cross Dock Supervisor and involves maintaining warehouse areas, managing material handling, and ensuring correct loading and unloading of shipments.

Responsibilities

• Properly receive, unload, load shipments in/out of the Cross Dock
• Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
• Knowledge of QMS (Quality Management Systems) and Lean Warehousing
• Experience operating material handling equipment and using an RF scanner
• Flexible to work 10 to 12 hour shifts when necessary and not afraid of heights
• Loads and unloads RJW truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers equipment
• Ensures compliance with company safety policies while using lifting devices (forklifts and scissor lifts) and clean initiative standards
• Oversees storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the dock staging lanes or racks
• Verifies orders are complete and accurate
• Unloads, loads, and picks each customer order in the most effective manner possible to minimize shipping costs and insure product safety
• Operates forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures
• Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager

Qualifications

• 2-4 years in a warehouse environment
• Good stable work and attendance record
• Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision
• General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment
• Ability to work as part of a team and lead
• Read, write, and understand English
• Attention to detail and quality a must
• Good communication, clear and concise, problem resolution, and people skills
• Flexibility in working overtime when needed, and supplying coverage to other shifts
• PC skills helpful
• Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse

Education and/or Experience Required

• High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED)
• Warehousing certifications a plus
• Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders
• Experienced in cross docking freight process
