Cross Connection Inspector
General Engineering Company (GEC) is hiring a part-time, seasonal Cross Connection Control Inspector to help support municipal water safety efforts across Wisconsin. This role involves field inspections of commercial, industrial, and publicly owned properties to identify actual or potential cross connections in plumbing systems. About the role
Inspect plumbing systems for cross connections and potential backflow concerns at facilities throughout various Wisconsin communities. You will document findings electronically, educate customers on cross connection control requirements, and ensure compliance with WI Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and SPS 382.41 regulations. The position allows you to coordinate your own inspection schedule with the program coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Inspect plumbing systems for cross connections and potential backflow concerns
- Conduct site visits at commercial, industrial, and publicly owned properties
- Accurately document findings using provided software or forms
- Educate customers and property owners on cross connection control requirements
- Ensure compliance with WI Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and SPS 382.41 regulations
- Coordinate your own inspection schedule with program coordinator
Requirements
- Experience in plumbing or building inspection preferred but not required
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred but not required
- Familiarity with cross connection control or backflow testing is a strong plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Tech-savvy enough to complete electronic documentation and reports
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Strong, positive communication skills with clients
