Critical Infrastructure Acoustic Engineer, Field Engineering
About the role
As An Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the 'go-to' engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, and will use your subject matter expertise and engage with diverse teams to coordinate acoustical mitigation requirements, supporting utilities, and equipment locations. You will also provide detailed construction specifications for all sound and acoustics-related trades.
Responsibilities
- Review all design disciplines to ensure they meet the site acoustic requirements described in our design standard.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for acoustic issues.
- Own design-solutions for acoustic retrofit projects.
- Initiate and lead acoustic audits including on-site visits within Amazon’s data centers.
- Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
- Develop innovative solutions for AWS’s data centers.
- Support training programs.
Requirements
- Valid and active driver's license.
- Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related engineering or scientific discipline.
- 1+ year of experience in acoustics, noise control, or environmental noise assessment (internships and co-ops count).
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Acoustics, Noise Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Coursework or project experience in environmental noise, sound propagation, or building acoustics.
- Familiarity with acoustic modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, SoundPLAN, ODEON, or similar).
- Experience with sound level meters and field measurement techniques (e.g., Larson Davis, B&K, or equivalent instrumentation).
- Exposure to environmental noise regulations, zoning ordinances, or permitting processes.
Skills
- Strong engineering judgement.
- Adaptable and inclined to get into the field to see things up close.
- Passion for driving improvement of acoustic design standards and project approaches across the organization.
- Ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty/ambiguity.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $96,600.00 - $160,000.00 annually.
Schedule
This position may require up to 25% travel.
