Position Summary
Zachry Underground & Utility Services is seeking a Field Engineer to support the successful execution of underground utility construction on large-scale mission-critical projects. The Field Engineer will assist with project planning, scheduling, cost control, documentation, quality assurance, and field coordination. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, general contractors, and owners to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
What You’ll Do
- Aid in project administration and field operations for underground utility projects
- Coordinate Request for Information (RFI), submittals, permits, and project documentation
- Track quantities, production, costs, and project progress
- Support project scheduling and short-term work planning efforts
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents for compliance
- Aid in change order tracking, reporting, and project controls
- Coverage of owners, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel
- Support quality control and project closeout activities
- Comply with all Zachry safety policies and guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- 0–3 years of construction or engineering experience; underground utility experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Must be able to travel or relocate for project assignments as needed
- Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
