About the Role
Operate and monitor all building automation systems including mechanical and electrical, respond to emergency situations, and perform preventive maintenance work. This position includes hands-on repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems, card access systems, door & gates systems, building envelope systems, grounds and parking lots, interior finish systems, lighting systems, and various other tasks associated with the operation of a commercial property.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair service work on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and various other building systems to maintain properties in peak operational condition.
- Identify energy savings opportunities, including system and operational changes to decrease energy consumption.
- Independently plan work assignments and perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Assist as a helper in other trades and in general maintenance and operation of buildings and grounds.
- Interact daily with teams in person, by phone, and via email.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial building maintenance and repairs.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Universal CFC certification (required or ability to obtain).
- Valid Mississippi Driver’s License.
- After-hours availability and flexibility to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 critical environment (e.g., data center).
Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with commercial electrical and mechanical systems (pumps, motors, air handlers, automation/controls systems, etc.).
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, web-based applications, and handheld electronic devices (PDAs, smartphones, tablets).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage relationships with team members, contractors, building occupants, and clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of English language structure, spelling, and grammar.
Schedule
This role supports a 24/7 critical environment and requires rotating shifts as needed.
