Critical Environment Technician

About the role

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is seeking a Critical Environment Technician to maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps our Datacenters up and running. This role plays a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services.

Responsibilities

• Understands, follows, and ensures safety and security requirements (e.g., JHAs, toolbox talks).
• Recognizes safe versus unsafe working conditions and responds accordingly.
• Escalates unsafe working conditions and promotes a safe working culture.
• Participates in required meetings, trainings, and necessary handoffs.
• Develops MOPs, SOPs, and DMOPs for devices and disciplines within their coverage and expertise.
• Performs various types of maintenance and repairs following MOPs, SOPs, and DMOPs.
• Communicates and escalates maintenance activities per established process and procedure.
• Provides necessary escort to third-party contractors and ensures work is performed safely.
• Monitors equipment performance and escalates issues as required.
• Utilizes telemetry and control systems to monitor site status and identify potential issues.
• Develops and follows emergency operating procedures (EOPs) in relation to incidents.
• Directly provides emergency monitoring response to irregular or malfunctioning conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
