Critical Care Technician Lead

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Read, and understand then enforce team adherence to all required policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines according to company and local protocol.
  • Serve as the local point person to answer questions and provide knowledge for other team members with lesser experience.
  • Work with Clinical Manager to provide feedback regarding clinical competencies and evaluations at direction of clinical Manager.
  • Routinely review inventory levels, equipment condition and general supply needs.
  • Submit purchase orders to replenish supplies as needed.
  • Facilitate inventory “hard count” as directed by Clinical Manager or required by policy.
  • Adjust daily schedule, cases, and assignments for local team members.
  • Auxiliary with Clinical Manager as needed – including but not limited to: Blood management competencies and audits Inventory management Billing coordination Continuing education opportunities for team Provide input to the Clinical Manager regarding team performance, and concerns regarding team operations.
  • May participate in appropriate hospital committees for demonstration of quality (e.g. blood management and process/outcome improvement).
  • Assist surgical staff (Physician, Nurses, Anesthesiologist, etc) during procedures by performing any of the following: Transporting patients to/from various hospital procedures Autologous Blood Processing – CardioPAT and Cell Saver Autologous Platelet Rich Plasma Processing Autologous Bone Marrow Aspirate Processing Assisting with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump Insertion and console troubleshooting Set-up and obtain equipment needed for the following procedures, including but not limited to: Invasive Lines: Swan Ganz, Central Lines, Arterial Lines Nerve Blocks Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump use Non-Invasive monitoring devices (e.g. ClearSite) Impella use Operation of and assistance with training for Point of Care Laboratory Testing Devices (POCT) Troubleshoot device inconsistencies per contract.
  • Collect and report quality improvement data as requested.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Notify appropriate person(s)/department(s) when problems develop with equipment and/or personnel as established in SpecialtyCare protocols and policies.
  • Clean equipment at end of each case and appropriately dispose of all refuse.
  • Prepare equipment for upcoming case(s)
  • Informs appropriate individuals of inventory level, equipment condition, and general needs.
  • Effectively operate equipment
  • Prepares and operates equipment within SpecialtyCare, hospital, manufacturer and federal guidelines.
  • Performs quality control and basic troubleshooting as needed.
  • Promptly reports all equipment problems to appropriate source.
  • Performs activities related to critical care procedures
  • Ensures a safe and sterile environment for the patient.
  • P Practices aseptic technique, maintains sterile field and reports/corrects any breaks in sterile technique.
  • Prepares the equipment, or supplies and competently assists the physician during procedures.
  • Follows all SpeciatlyCare policies and procedures or hospital protocols.
  • Ensures safe environment for patients and staff
  • Protects self and others from injury by using equipment per manufacturer and department guidelines.
  • Uses transfer lifts, transport equipment and body mechanics to protect from injury.
  • P Practices good habits of radiation safety.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • College degree or certificate preferred.

Experience

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of directly relatable clinical experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience, acceptable.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Proof of immunizations or other health testing (where required).
  • Able to use a computer for billing, quality indicators entry and inventory management.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to build meaningful and long-term relationships.
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Exceptional ability to speak clearly, write and understand English.
  • Able to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems involving several variables in new or unfamiliar emergency situations.

  • Able to operate and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Possesses a sense of urgency.
  • Able to solve problems logically and efficiently.
  • Able to provide feedback and coaching of others.
  • Strong knowledge of the business and various services provided.
