Location: Milwaukee, WI – Froedtert Hospital (on-site)

About the Role

The Critical Care Technician (CCT), under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides delegated age-appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner in the Critical Care Units. The CCT assists patients with tasks outlined in their clinical competency assessment related to basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services, and necessary critical care skills. The CCT practices and performs what was taught during their CNA training and certification or learned during basic nursing courses at an accredited school for professional nurses. The CCT may be asked to provide continuous safety observation. This role reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager of the assigned Critical Care Unit and the RNs on duty each shift.

Schedule

  • Optional part-time: 4 x 12-hour shifts per month
  • Shifts: 06:30–19:00 (day) or 18:30–07:00 (night)
  • No weekend or holiday requirement

Responsibilities

  • Provide delegated age-appropriate care under RN supervision
  • Assist patients with basic nursing, personal care, and critical care tasks as outlined in clinical competency assessments
  • Perform skills learned during CNA training or basic nursing courses
  • Provide continuous safety observation when required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification required or currently enrolled in a nursing program with documentation from an accredited school confirming successful completion of a basic nursing course (including all criteria noted by Wisconsin administrative code) and at least one acute care medical/surgical clinical rotation
  • Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within 6 months of hire
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or equivalent within 90 days of hire
