About the role
This is a night shift position as an Organ Recovery Coordinator (ORC).
Responsibilities
- Direct, oversee, implement, and maximize the organ donation and procurement process.
- Respond to heart beating ventilated referrals and assess organ donor suitability.
- Oversee family approach regarding donation and obtain informed consent, collaborate with DLA staff if available, perform medical and social history interview, inform donor family of donor designation, provide support to the family, and communicate with donor family advocate services.
- Manage donor records, assist hospital development with post-donor hospital communication, provide donor family support, and coordinate with donor family advocate services.
- Facilitate organ offers to transplant centers.
- Contribute to hospital development and professional education.
- Share 12-hour "on-call" responsibility with other ORCs as determined by the on-call schedule.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree, RN, EMT-P, RRT or other health care certification with 2 years prior organ recovery experience, or completion of an approved educational program in donation sciences.
- Minimum Experience: 1-2 years of critical care, or 2 years of organ recovery.
- Excellent human relations & oral/written communication skills.
- Flexibility: unpredictable schedule (on call).
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations.
- Strong work ethic with high adaptability skills.
- Preferred Experience: Organ Recovery, or completion of an approved educational program in donation.
