About the Role

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking passionate Critical Care Nurses to join our team in full-time day and night shifts. Our Critical Care division offers opportunities to work in highly specialized areas, including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU/step-down), and our Chemotherapy department. You’ll work with highly skilled clinicians caring for some of the most critically ill patients, collaborate with exceptional providers, and continue growing your skills in an advanced, high-tech ICU environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced assessment of a patient’s condition and planning and implementing patient care plans.
  • Providing advanced life support including ventilator support.
  • Assisting physicians in performing procedures.
  • Observing and recording patient vital signs as well as intake and outputs every one (1) hour.
  • Ensuring that ventilators, monitors, and other types of medical equipment function properly.
  • Administering continuous vasoactive and cardiac medications.
  • Ordering diagnostic tests.
  • Collaborating with fellow members of the critical care team.
  • Providing care using nursing standards and Hospital/ICU protocols for treatment.
  • Acting as patient advocates.
  • Providing education and support to patient families.
  • Caring for both medical and surgical patients.
  • Providing care to the immediate post-operative patient.
  • Responding to Rapid Responses and medical emergencies throughout the medical campus.
  • Participating in end-of-life conversations and collaborating with the Palliative Care and Hospice teams.
  • Providing CRRT therapy.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one of the following:
    • The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or
    • The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; or
    • The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or
    • The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time) as a Nurse I at Roswell Park.

Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a critical care, emergency medical, or intensive care setting is strongly preferred.

Pay

The starting rate of pay for this position is $47.58 per hour. For the night shift, there is an additional night shift differential of $6.50 per hour. The listed pay rate reflects the potential compensation for this role, and the actual offer may vary based on the candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
