Critical Care Intensivist
About the role
Critical Care Physician, specializing in inpatient medicine, to act as the primary doctor for CarolinaEast Medical Center ICU patients during the time they are hospitalized. This Physician reports to the Medical Director and accepts patient referrals and coordinates all aspects of care for hospital medical patients, referred by medical staff members, especially from the Family Practice and Internal Medicine sections.
Responsibilities
- Admission, appropriate placement within the hospital, case management, and effective utilization of appropriate resources
- Discussion of end of life preferences
- Consultations with sub-specialists
- Timely and proactive discharge planning
- Coordination of care with primary care and consulting physicians
- Discharge, including ensuring appropriate follow-up is arranged
