Come join our Cardiovascular Recovery Room, where we expertly manage critically ill patients on ECMO, Total Artificial Heart, LVAD, Impella, IABP, and CRRT. You will:

• Recover immediate post-operative open heart, lung, and liver transplant patients
• Care for the 3rd sickest patient population in the United States
• Work in a unit that recovered the 1st BiVACOR total artificial heart patient in the world
• Recover the 1st fully robotic heart transplant patient in the United States

Greater than 50% of our staff have more than 10 years of nursing experience, and greater than 95% have more than 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Assessment: Perform admission and ongoing assessment of patient’s condition. Provide nursing care to meet physical, psychological, and spiritual needs. Notify doctor of changes in assessment that require attention.
• Planning: Design, direct, evaluate, and document the plan of care, patient/family teaching, and the transition of care plan, including safe discharge planning. Collaborate with other clinical disciplines to meet specialized patient care and discharge needs. Formulate a plan of care and daily goals tailored to the individualized needs of the patient.
• Implementation: Prepare patients physically, psychologically, and spiritually for treatments, surgeries, and diagnostic studies to reduce anxiety. Monitor patients' conditions and report significant changes to the Charge Nurse/Team Leader and/or physician. Implement patient safety initiatives and protocols, including medication safety practices, physician orders, and consult notifications.
• Evaluation: Reassess patients at appropriate intervals following interventions. Notify physician as necessary to modify interventions. Adjust nursing care to meet the patient's emerging and changing needs.
• Report Skills: Give and receive report using Bedside Shift Report, including family participation. Provide an accurate and comprehensive report to the oncoming shift to ensure continuity of patient care.

Requirements

• At least one (1) year of RN experience
• Demonstrated competence in Registered Nurse I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse license in Texas, upon hire
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 6 months of hire

$33.00 - $52.80 per hour
