About the role
Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at Central Maine Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Supports intensivists in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary critical care team, providing comprehensive patient management, performing procedures, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
- Works full-time with a rotating schedule that may include 12-hour shifts, days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on departmental needs.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current Maine licensure as an NP or PA (or eligibility for licensure).
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Critical care or ICU experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, team-based environment.
Skills
- Comprehensive patient management skills.
- Procedural skills including central line placement, arterial line insertion, intubation assistance, and other ICU-related procedures.
- Interpretation of diagnostic tests and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Collaboration with consulting services, nursing staff, respiratory therapy, and other healthcare professionals.
- Documentation of patient encounters and clinical decisions in the electronic medical record.
- Education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans and prognosis.
