About the role
Thresholds’ Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) is dedicated to providing services and supports to individuals experiencing mental health crises. Crisis Workers respond to these crises in Kankakee County, offering alternatives to hospitalization or police response.
Responsibilities
- Answer calls to the crisis hotline and conduct safety assessments
- Connect callers to appropriate services or provide face-to-face interventions
- Assist individuals in crisis with the least restrictive intervention possible
- Distribute basic necessities to individuals in crisis
- Offer follow-up services and document services provided
- Participate in professional development activities during downtime
Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods
- Occasionally traverse long distances and ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs
Qualifications
- Passion for mental health advocacy
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to problem-solve
- Strong writing skills
- Good time management and organization
Skills
- Valid driver’s license (preferred)
