About the role
The Crisis Outreach Counselor provides mental health crisis services in various settings, including immediate assessment, intervention, and short-term counseling to individuals experiencing emotional distress.
Responsibilities
- Answer crisis line calls and conduct assessments for co-occurring disorders.
- Develop and implement crisis action plans, facilitating linkage to services and advocating for clients.
- Perform follow-up contacts, re-evaluate crisis plans, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in a Human Services field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of one year experience in mental health or related fields.
- Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and appropriate insurance.
- Completion of required training, background checks, and annual professional development.
- Must be 21+ years old and able to work in a fast-paced environment with individuals experiencing various mental health challenges.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and adherence to safety standards are essential.
