ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to the Sanctuary model and respects individual differences.
- Respects and values individual differences and actively supports diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Checks in with the MTCr On Call and School Personnel upon arrival at work.
- Receives a report regarding children/youth at risk and follows up as appropriate.
- Checks in with all buildings on campus throughout the shift to maintain safety and support.
- Provides coaching and modeling to milieu staff.
- Fills in for ratio and med-passing needs when needed.
- Completes a daily report and submits it to appropriate agency/school staff.
- Develops opportunities for pro-social skills, relaxation, and anger management.
- Facilitates and coordinates Resident Committee membership and meetings.
- Attends SELF meetings, Red Flag meetings, CIW meetings, staffings, Psychiatric Consults, family therapy, and individual therapy as appropriate.
- Completes TACT-2 – Instructor level, Ukeru-Instructor level, and facilitates trainings as scheduled or needed.
- Follows up with MTD, MTCr, and MTC as needed to ensure fidelity to the model.
- Utilizes and models skills to safely divert physical restraints in accordance with organizational goals.
- Adheres to DIAL regulations, Joint Commission standards, and policies and procedures.
- Understands trauma-informed care and utilizes strategies to assist residents in managing trauma reactions.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to children who have experienced trauma.
- Completes additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- At the time of employment and every three (3) years thereafter, a physician’s certification of adequate health to perform duties.
- Satisfactory background checks and meeting federal fingerprinting requirements through the Division of Criminal Investigation and the Abuse Registries (child abuse, dependent adult abuse, and sexual offender registries).
- A valid Driver’s license and proof of valid liability insurance on own vehicle.
- Pass and/or complete: New Staff Orientation, Mandatory Reporters Training, TACT-2 Training Course, TBRI Training, Basic First-Aid/CPR Course, Medication Manager Course, Connecting Course, and any additional training required by the supervisor during the first six months of employment.
- Qualify for agency insurance coverage to transport residents.
- Ability to effectively handle emergency situations professionally, including physical restraint, escort, and self-protection techniques.
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or a related field and a minimum of two years experience working with children/youth and families.
- Demonstrate competence in understanding the population served, providing individual and family services, engaging client/provider in services, and commitment to safe, high-quality care.
- Read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Write reports and general correspondence.
- Present information and respond to questions from superiors, other employees, residents, and persons outside the organization.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Compute rates, ratios, and percentages and draw and interpret graphs.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret technical instructions, verbal, and behavioral interactions, and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Determine imminent danger to ensure safety of youth and staff through appropriate levels of response.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, walk, stand, and sit required, use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and adjust focus.
- Exposure to outside weather conditions, moderate noise level in the work environment.
