Criminal Law Paralegal

About the Role

An established Southwest Louisiana law firm is preparing to open a new office in Lafayette and is seeking an experienced Criminal Law Paralegal to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned paralegal with a strong background in criminal law litigation and trial support to play an integral role in establishing and supporting the firm's Lafayette office.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive paralegal support throughout all stages of criminal litigation
• Assist attorneys with case preparation, discovery, pleadings, motions, and trial preparation
• Organize and maintain case files and documentation
• Conduct legal research and assist with preparing legal documents
• Coordinate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties
• Assist attorneys during trial and with other courtroom-related matters
• Manage deadlines, calendars, and case-related tasks
• Provide additional administrative and litigation support as needed

Requirements

• 3+ years of paralegal experience
• Strong experience in criminal law litigation
• Prior trial experience is required
• Strong knowledge of criminal litigation procedures and court processes
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
