Criminal Paralegal
About the role
The Paralegal will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of an attorney. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to lawyers, enhancing office effectiveness, handling client and witness communications, administratively supporting and attending trials, preparing case briefs and summarizing depositions, interrogatories, and testimony, conducting investigations and statistical/documentary research, locating and developing case-relevant information, typing up and filing basic legal documents and correspondence, answering and directing phone calls, maintaining contact lists, monitoring deadlines, and juggling calendars. Translations (in-office and out-of-office) are also part of the role.
Qualifications & Skills
- 2 or more years' experience as paralegal or legal assistant in Criminal Law
- Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system
- Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office
- Computer literacy
- Proficiency in English and Spanish
- Working knowledge of case management software
- Excellent secretarial and organizational skills
- Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
Pay
Hourly pay based on applicant’s years of relevant experience.
