About The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Trial Attorney to join its growing litigation team in Tacoma, Washington.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal defense matters.
  • Handle cases involving DUI, assault, domestic violence, drug offenses, theft, and other criminal matters.
  • Develop case strategies and provide strategic legal counsel throughout all stages of litigation.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive legal arguments.
  • Represent clients at hearings, bench trials, jury trials, and other court proceedings.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Participate in client consultations and maintain regular communication throughout the legal process.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case management and exceptional client service.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Washington State Bar Association, in good standing.
  • Approximately 3-5+ years of Criminal Defense or Criminal Litigation experience.
  • Strong courtroom advocacy and trial experience.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage a busy caseload while working effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Former prosecutor experience.
  • Jury trial experience.
  • Personal Injury litigation experience.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Experience with Clio or other legal case management software.
