About The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Trial Attorney to join its growing litigation team in Tacoma, Washington.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal defense matters.
- Handle cases involving DUI, assault, domestic violence, drug offenses, theft, and other criminal matters.
- Develop case strategies and provide strategic legal counsel throughout all stages of litigation.
- Draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive legal arguments.
- Represent clients at hearings, bench trials, jury trials, and other court proceedings.
- Negotiate with prosecutors to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Participate in client consultations and maintain regular communication throughout the legal process.
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case management and exceptional client service.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the Washington State Bar Association, in good standing.
- Approximately 3-5+ years of Criminal Defense or Criminal Litigation experience.
- Strong courtroom advocacy and trial experience.
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to independently manage a busy caseload while working effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Former prosecutor experience.
- Jury trial experience.
- Personal Injury litigation experience.
- Spanish language proficiency.
- Experience with Clio or other legal case management software.
