Position Summary
Identify, document, collect and preserve physical evidence in the field; ensure the preservation of all items taken into evidence; testify in court regarding the chain of custody and integrity of evidence. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must pass Drug Test, Criminal Records check and Background check
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire
- Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire
- Must successfully complete the Crime Scene Specialist (CSS) Training program and the CSS OJT program
- Must successfully pass a physical agility test
Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, social science, forensic science, chemistry, biology, physical science or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of public safety, crime scene investigation or crime scene evidence collection experience
- Exception: One (1) year of crime scene investigation or crime scene evidence collection experience is not interchangeable with a minimum of four (4) years of experience for Crime Scene Specialist III
