About the role
The Master’s Level Central Receiving Facility (CRF) Counselor ensures the receipt of appropriate legal Baker Act/Marchman Act documents for involuntary and voluntary admissions, and provides guidance to law enforcement and community providers on their correct completion. Counselors conduct preliminary assessments, initiate contact with family or significant others for additional information, and coordinate admissions or transfers to facilities such as TMBHC, CRMC, EPH, Detox, or PATH.
Responsibilities
- Complete thorough clinical assessments of all clients entering the CRF, including presenting problems, psychiatric and substance abuse history, medical issues, lethality, and overall mental status.
- Formulate a clinical impression, provisional diagnosis, and treatment recommendations based on assessment data.
- Complete all necessary paperwork for initial entry into the system and ensure consent-to-treatment signatures for all ACI admissions.
- Use therapeutic techniques to provide brief, solution-focused counseling and crisis intervention to clients calling or entering the CRF.
- Coordinate referrals and transfers to appropriate receiving facilities per agency procedures, including notifying families, agency departments, and outside agencies.
- Develop crisis management plans for clients who do not meet inpatient criteria and ensure they are referred to community resources.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions and concerns immediately.

7:30 PM – 8:00 AM, rotating schedule.
