Position reports directly to the Supervisor. Crewperson 3 must possess the necessary knowledge and demonstrate strong skills in the designated trade, with the ability to carry out assignments and perform high-quality work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assists with additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Uses hand tools of the trade and related power equipment, including SMART boards, iPads, and basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
- Complies with WPS guidelines for equipment use.
- Travels between schools and central offices as required.
- Accepts responsibility for assisting with the training, skill development, and supervision of other team members, including assigning work schedules and verifying completion of assignments for a summer route crew.
- Assists in maintaining good public relations, representing both the Facilities Division and Wichita Public Schools.
- Maintains appropriate licenses and certifications, including a valid Kansas driver’s license.
- Demonstrates superior knowledge of procedures, materials, and equipment in the designated area, displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadership.
- Supports organizational goals, the mission of the Schools Service Center, and the district.
- Works cooperatively with others and maintains open lines of communication.
- Maintains and services equipment and trains crew members to do the same.
- Properly mixes and uses chemicals for weed control and keeps accurate records of treatments.
Requirements
- Ability to perform all tasks and work the required hours.
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Ability to wear proper safety equipment as required.
- Attendance at required meetings and in-services.
- Daily schedule may fluctuate to accommodate deadlines and delivery of services.
- Exposure to chemicals, solvents, contaminated trash, grasses, pollens, etc.
- Frequent lifting of 20 to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of 50-100 pounds; lifting over 100 pounds with assistance.
- Work in high places, on ladders, and/or lifts.
- Work in standard office and school building environments, as well as wet and dusty conditions.
- Ability to work overtime on short notice.
- Valid Kansas driver’s license maintained throughout employment.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
