Crew Lead - Fiber

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Cable & Termination: Run major project crews; assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training; adhere to safety and quality guidelines; initiate performance-related communications; perform weekly safety meetings.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with project budget.
  • Closet Installation: Build closets, mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware.
  • Grounding: Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
  • IDC Connections: Perform IDC connections, including terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
  • Testing: Continuously test horizontal and riser cable using an OTDR, Fluke DTX 180, troubleshoot issues, and perform network-wide splicing.
  • Splicing: Perform mechanical and fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable, and conduct building entrance splices, maintenance space, and direct burial splices.
  • Paperwork: Complete IES paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, Job Blog, tool transfers, and others as required.
  • Other Duties: Complete any other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Physical and Mental Requirements: Self-motivated, positive approach, professional, able to work at heights, lift up to 50 pounds, see and distinguish colors, read small print, hear and recognize audible signals, able to travel.
  • Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalent, proficient with listed tools, experience in fiber and leading small groups, industry certifications, data center installation experience, mechanical and fusion splice experience, OSP/Confined Space Entry experience, and proficiency in terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems.

Min USD $28.00/Hr. Max USD $32.00/Hr.

About the Role

The Crew Lead - Fiber will act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. The Crew Lead - Fiber’s task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.
